The Mesquite Championship Rodeo - Resistol Arena in Mesquite, TX

We went to Texas to visit our friends, Carrie & Bryan and their kids, Landon and McKenna, otherwise know as the Leaches.  The drive was the normal 5 hours and Carrie had a pot of Chili waiting on us, such southern hospitality!!!

We got there early enough to let the kiddos, er I mean, the little buckaroos take a pony ride and to walk around the whole arena and pick up a beer before finding our seats!

We had a great time, and we all are looking forward to our next RODEO!

We got to see the parade of participants and sponsors. And the 1st real quick pass flung dirt on us and I had a rock land on the front of my shoulder. Yep, we were more alert and ready after that, no more extra dirt protein in our beers.

There was cattle chasing and kids on sheep but the highlight was yet to come!

Ian and I took the kids down in the arena for a chance to touch a cattle. No luck!

You can see here a horse's brand on an official's horse that positions himself right in front of us for part of the night.     The dirt pictures, right, are horseshoe prints in the dirt.

Whiplash was finally here, below. Now this is the best cowboy yet, but he's really a MONKEY on a DOG and he was able to wrangle some ewe's into a fenced area with the greatest of ease! See a couple of pictures below.

Chance had to stay home and guard the house, he was a little sad.
