lake maninjau

maninjau. the most beautiful lake in west sumatra province, indonesia. it's famous for the crystal lake and 44 hairpin turns on the way to its lake from  direction bukittinggi towards bayur region.

it was used to be weekend destination during dutch colonial era. no wonder, the architecture of wooden houses still remain nowadays. we'd stayed in one  of these old houses as a homestay about long time ago. we stayed at the second floor, where the owner provided old books collection that we liked so much.

and this experience will never be happened again. when we come back again a year later, the homestay already closed. so we tried another place to stay by the edge of the lake. and we had nice memories too. surrounded by rice [padi] field and pretty close to the lake. we love to do sunset swim here!

- doreen .. it;s so lovely to be there. only the transportation quite difficult in the morning. so imagine whenever we have to catch the early morning flight :)

- oh jude, thanks a lot. yes, our pictures about reading the book in black and white also our fave! yes, it's peaceful here and not hectic at all. the last shot was taken in the harvest where we also try to cut the padi [rice] and put into the barn. it's nice experience.

- angela, this place is an off-the-beaten-path even for the locals. surprise, uh?!
- annelies, the landscape still the same ... perhaps not so many different with your old family album! the homestay also have old pictures collection and what we saw there ... yeah, not so many different throughout the years.

Very nice photos, great compositions in your photos and nice colors. Love the landscape!!!

thanks for compliment, ania :)
the landscape [in our opinion] looks so huge since there's none storey buildings in the whole of the area. just the lake and 2 villages nearby.
