Stupid elevator series

The Marriott off Times Square in New York has these elevators that are so non-standard, baffling and surreal that using them without assistance verges on the impossible. In the center of the hollowcore of the building is a circular lobby-in-a-lobby with a wall of  creepily identical doors that seem to have been designed by the architect of The Matrix.

A set of similar doors surrounds an inner circle opposite the outer one. In the midst of these is a keypad like one you'd find on an ATM machine.

It's not clear what you're supposed to do with these. Press the number of your floor?

If you do, you get 0>, which means... what?

Turns out it means "Go to the door named 0." Or something.

Your elevator is a clear capsule attached to the outside of this kind of reactor core. It rises or falls to the floor you programmed it to reach.

Once you are in the elevator, you have no control over where you're going. The work has been done by the time you enter the vessel.

Good luck.
