muara karang and sunda kelapa

sunda kelapa harbour and muara karang. are situated in oud batavia or kota. sunda kelapa is the oldest harbour in the bay of jakarta and muara karang is an old fish market in the area nearby.

in the front of the harbour, can be seen the old tower and the barrack. from the tower, we can see the scenes of its harbour and the barrack changed into maritime museum.

what we found from the top of the tower was somewhat unexpected. jakarta or batavia has begun from this point, but today ... poverty and untidy life scenes bring us into something called hard life. the glorious of the past seems only remain in the history.

apart of the old buildings and the oldest harbour at oud batavia, muara karang is a real place for seafood. what we have here are guaranteed fresh from the fishermen. just buy the fresh seafood at the market, then ask our favourite resto to cook them and voila ... it's grilled within seconds and ready to be served! it's really mouthwatering scenes in front of our table.

our favourite seafood from muara karang are grilled red snappers and calamari, sweet-sour crab and fried prawns. served with hot steam rice and mango-belacan sauce.

lunch, anyone? :)

Yum yum I like fishes a lot. Interesting tour. The wooden bridge looks like Van Gogh' Pont of Langlois in France.
