The Red Art

It is not easy to find Soviet era slogans nowadays. I shot this one about 3 years ago

in a small scary town deep in a middle of nowhere. The whole city looked pretty much like a wall on this photo. Enjoy.

To work under the motto: Honor and Glory by the Labor!

In Kw's recent tabblo on Havana there are multiple images of Che Guevara, including a full building wall filling line drawing outline of the "trademark" image of Che. Looking at those images my thought was that Guevara now seems more like James Dean, an icon of a era pretty much forgotten. A rebel of an ancient and maligned cause. The red (Red?) sign, like much of the propaganda of that type, is a noble seeming covering for a rotten and decaying structure. America is living that right now with its phony noble war to spread "democracy." It's probably not ironic that the term "Potemkin village," a town made up of pretty facades and nothing else, is a Russian based tale.

like a deserted town.. those orange rust colored facades with blue window sills make this an interesting attractive photo.

Love the colours and the high contrast, and kind of graphic feeling it gives! =)
