Typhoon Sunset

Last week (mid-Sept 2006), the sunset was unusally scenic due to a nearby typhoon.  It was bigger than most typhoons, and brought damage to southwestern Japan- even turning over a train off the tracks on its side there.  Fortunately, all we got was a little rain and the sunset that can illuminate the sky like this.

These were taken from our balcony looking out over the city of Nagaoka, in Niigata prefecture, Japan (a bit northwest of Tokyo, right above Nagano where 98 Winter Olympics were held). My wife took these so she gets the credit actually.
