It was a cold, dark morning. My neighbor, Nancy, brought me magazines.
A kitten, new to the neighborhood, came to visit.
Light scattered on the pond.
I noticed that it's nearly time to put away the summer hats.

Midday, we sat on the front deck for awhile, admiring the dragonfish fountain, the fading geraniums, the neighbor's windchimes, and the peeling birch trees.
A bit of blue joined the white sky.
A fading dog toy rested near a dry autumn leaf on the boards of the deck. |

I spent the afternoon in the company of my cats, and went into the garden after dark to take a flash photo. The sunroom looks so warm from outside on a cool evening.
The last shot is the sunroom from inside, at about the same time. |

The critters say it's time for bed.
Boo sits patiently on the staircase.
Henry waits upstairs on the bed.
The dream guardians are on duty. |
