Never does the saying "A picture is worth a thousand words" hold more true than ever with this photo. Priceless.

Wow, Pam - this is indeed priceless. A beautiful photograph that says so much.
Eduardo.affonso said at 1:56 p.m. on Jan 29, 2008:
Great photo, PAM. Hope Hillary (or Obama, or McCain, or Romney) will give peace a chance. That could be a good begining.
Leftofcenter said at 1:57 p.m. on Jan 29, 2008:
how do you find them and then capture the moment so brutally, so "in your face" like you always say. genius sis. you're my hero.
JuDeck said at 1:58 p.m. on Jan 29, 2008:

A Truly Great shot worthy of Time or Newsweek.
Jigs said at 8:04 p.m. on Jan 29, 2008:
I'm right there in spirit with them. Sigh. "Why can't we all just get along?"
AliDar said at 12:37 a.m. on Jan 30, 2008:
I didn't really say what I felt about the shot in my last comment, so... the man in the wheelchair looks defeated, and if I'd happened upon him on the street I'd feel like I couldn't look for very long, but in a photograph you get the opportunity to really look at it and see it, ... and so feel it. The funny hat and the smile on the face of the standing man adds just that bit of ... juxtaposed humor ( I know there's a word for that but I can't think of it just now) that disarms you in a way, and makes the message all the more poignant by the contrast.
Fredzee said at 1:42 a.m. on Jan 30, 2008:
After the pic, (AliDAr said all, and i think you are the best !), after the serious message (i agree with and say 'bravo' to the Peace's sis), i always wondered what happened to Forrest and his friend Dan !! i know now they are in Denver... :))
Fredzee said at 1:56 a.m. on Jan 30, 2008:
to make me forgive of my ridiculous comments... :

I thought of Forrest and Dan too, a favorite movie of mine, very moving... pas si ridicule que ça Fredz :)
Pkeener said at 9:18 a.m. on Jan 30, 2008:
Thank you all for the comments. i took this shot last year after the St PAtrick's Day parade in Denver. that is why he is wearing the funny hat. It was green and white striped. They were on their way to a Peace Demonstration and we struck up a conversation. i asked them if they minded if i took their photo, and i shot this just before they were ready. caught the vets expression of defeat, before he smiled for me.
Fred, that is an excellent website, and i thank you for your interest and kindness. i know you are a father, too.
Pkeener said at 9:21 a.m. on Jan 30, 2008:
PS I used a red filter on this shot, to bring out the skin tones. it was very bright out, and that is why his black pants are lost in shadow. If you fuss too much with the camera, you lose the moment with people.
Rheap said at 9:40 a.m. on Jan 30, 2008:

Wow Pam, what a great shot. Really moving. Thanks for sharing.
Decoy said at 2:40 p.m. on Jan 30, 2008:
A great shot with "hard facts".. reality without any filter! And too that you add great lines and good composition.. I like the two coming from the back, bringing the contrast to the "other" world. Well taken photo Pam, and a great message!
Domieb2 said at 5:18 p.m. on Jan 30, 2008:
OMG. This is an amazing shot. Makes me sad, though. The man in the wheelchair seems lost...

Pamela : An image impressive! I don't know what it hides! Perhaps a brutal past !?
Memotions said at 11:52 a.m. on Jan 31, 2008:
This just speaks volumes, Pam. Takes me right back to the late 60's.......very moving.
Krisu said at 2:33 p.m. on Jan 31, 2008:
Wish I could speak better English now than just this stupid "nice weather-what's for dinner". To express myself propely I'd need some serious stuff instead of that. A whole new level. I can only say that this photo talks, so I can be quiet. More than a great capture, Pam.
Pkeener said at 2:55 p.m. on Jan 31, 2008:
I love all your comments, and the fact that you are all such talented photographers, only makes it better. sometimes a single image can change your whole way of thinking. i like the way you all think! i was just lucky that day. the photo is mediocre, but the message almost knoced me over.
