Right on the edge of Mullinville, Kansas is a local artist's display of his "junk art." Made from scrap metal, this guy puts together bizarre and thought-provoking pieces of highway "comments" on life in a small conservative town on the plains, comments on the state school board, comments on sex, religion, various people (both in town and of national stature). |

Some of the art (and there are literally hundreds that line two fields on the highway that runs through town) are disturbing in their grotesque mockery of people and ideas. They have a H. Crumb quality about them. |

People in town resent the attention the artwork has brought to Mullinville as well as the comments the art seems to make about them. They have tried to get him to take the works down, but have failed. While I don't agree with some of the statements, I applaud his ability and willingness to stand up and stand out! |

Some of these are quite humorous! |
