It was hazy below and the sun was shining on the window beside seat 5A of the CRJ I flew from Denver to Santa Barbara. But I still got a lot of shots, including quite a few looking directly down inside the Grand Canyon. |

After the Grand Canyon, the first clear skies came looking south from the Mojave Desert across the transverse ranges of Southern California. The first of these shots includes an excellent view of an 80,000-year-old landslide from the Big Bear area down onto the floor of the Mojave east of Barstow. I also got some nice shots of Big Bear itself, with its bare ski slopes, and of Mt. Waterman and Baldy ski areas. Look beyond these at the haze in the valleys beyond. This is the Los Angeles basin, with its marine haze (not necessarily just smog) held as if in a bowl by the high mountains surrounding it. The highest of these, Mt. San Gorgonio, approaches twelve thousand feet. |

Running out of editing time here, so I'm calling it, and getting back to it later.
BTW, is there a way to make some of these verticals horizontal?
Thanks! |
