2006 Applefest Half Marathon

On September 30, 2006, over 900 runners finished the Applefest Half Marathon in Hollis, NH.  Another 200 runners participated in the Applefest Relay.

I took these photos at the 10 mile water station.  Of course, I didn't get a shot of every runner.  These are just the best shots I took.

hat's off to the runners. That's a hilly course.

Your photos reminded me that Saturday was a fabulous day, even though the hills surprised me on my first running of the event. It might be nice if next year somebody could put an elevation drawing on the Web site for newcomers to see. I traveled a ways to get to the race and hadn't had a chance to see much of it beforehand. Also, I'd hope that parking might be a little smoother next year, but I understand that we were forced to drive to different lots because radios weren't working. (Also, several people who had to wait in their cars for the runners were pretty clear about their feelings of being detained a while, voicing them pretty loudly to runners passing by.)
Anyway, those are small things! The apple crisp was wonderful, and the volunteers did a great job having everything we needed. I managed to set a new personal best for half marathon, partly because Mike from Milford joined me half way and we talked a bit and paced each other nearly until the end. I ran 20 minutes faster than my fastest workout run of the same distance, so I was pretty elated.
