Behind the Scenes at the Applefest Half Marathon

The Applefest Half Marathon features some of the best Fall scenery of any race in the country.  Located in beautiful Hollis, NH, the course winds through apple orchards, rolling farmland, and an authentic New England town common.

This annual event wouldn't happen without the dedication of the Applefest race committee and other hard-working volunteers.  Most of the volunteers stay quietly behind the scenes.  Some local high school students, on the other hand, are anything but quiet.  Each year, the students compete for the honor of the most spirited water station.

If beautiful scenery and cheering volunteers don't get you moving, how about the smell of fresh apple crisp?  The post-race food at Applefest is famously tasty and plentiful.

Great pics. Sounds a lot better than the "Sauerkraut Run" that my husband participated in a couple of times. Who wants a hot dog with 'kraut after running a half marathon?! The smell of apple crisp, on the other hand, would keep me moving toward the finish line. :)
