LatentE said at 11:28 a.m. on Dec 19, 2006: Thanks all for the nice comments. I'm only just now getting the hang of Tabblo and feedback comments so sorry for the delayed response. Pamela (Pkeener), there wasn't any special effort to getting the cyclists in the images. The path on the Brooklyn Bridge is divided. One side for cyclists and the other for pedestrians. I'd heard the early morning forecast of low fog on a sunny day so on a hunch I headed out to the Brooklyn Bridge to see if there was anything interesting. It was just after sunrise. (The sun is visible in the one shot facing toward Brooklyn.) This was too early for the heavy traffic on the bridge path. This allowed for the sense of isolation in the images. The shot of the female cyclist on the tree lined path was along the Hudson River about six miles north of the bridge shots. That path is also shared by pedestrians and cyclists. The sun was shining through the mist surrounding the trees though that effect isn't quite as apparent as I'd hoped for.

Dhabura said at 9:05 p.m. on Jan 2, 2007: Your sense of shape, movement, light and color are extraordinary. Your images are a celebration in and of themselves. They aren't good, they are great. Is your work published? If not, it must be. Start looking for an agent or someone who can connect you with the folks who sell great photos and photo books. Then all of us on Tabblo can say “We knew you when!”
Hollyridger said at 9:22 p.m. on Jan 2, 2007: I totally agree with Dhabura! Happy New Year...
LatentE said at 10:42 p.m. on Jan 2, 2007: Thanks for the very generous compliments. Sometimes a person gets lucky with photos. I did chase this scene down. Not sure what I heard in the forecast that made me decide to take to the bridge. It's not as if the Brooklyn Bridge is like the Golden Gate, often shrouded in fog. So maybe that was the push. All these images were taken within an hour or so of each other. The bridge shots, within half an hour total time, with much of the time spent waiting for people to enter or leave the frame. *** For the city in the clouds shot I was truly tempted to crawl on the bridge structure over the roadway for cars to get a clear shot of the city in the clouds. But I knew I'd cause the bridge to be closed and get arrested. *** Four evening images from other Tabblos were captured (at least the first attempt for the Path shot) on the same evening ride. Sometimes luck is with you. Most other times you've got to look, shoot and hope for the best. *** And Happy New Year back at ya'll. ***
