Your world is so colorful! It's so gray here in Boston, this is a treat for the eyes. Thanks!

Ué... você agora é mangueirense, é? Adorei. Volto mais tarde.

blinded by the lush colors!! how close did you get to the floats (or did you jump on??) great choice of background color, tryin' to look at it as if I were a pro tabblow critic ; but all I can hear is
"em fevereiro
tem carnaval
eu tenho um fusca e um violão
sou Flamengo e tenho uma nêga chamada Tereza.." by Simonal, no clue what it means of course. Thx to the carnival I can change my tune ;) BWANA Edu.

¡¡¡¡Mangueira, verde rosa!!!!!
Liliana said at 6:29 p.m. on Feb 5, 2008:
E manha todo volta ao normal... (¿será así...?). ¡¡Buen fin y buen comienzo, entonces!!

Incredible costumes (and floats?) Does everyone get to participate and make their own costumes? Or save all year to buy one? Or wear them more than once during Carnaval? I love the dragons and the jaguar.
Ebucar said at 9:09 p.m. on Feb 5, 2008:
Today I was trying to explain to my French teach all about how chaotically organized is the carnaval in Brazil. Not sure if he believe me...LOL.
Year after year and the carnaval in Rio, in particular, and in Brazil, in general, fascinates me, always as if it's the first time.
Hilah said at 3:44 a.m. on Feb 6, 2008:
I love all the color. I especially love the tiger and the croc's teeth. I am amazed by all the color. I will put this on my list of places to visit when I retire.
Eduardo.affonso said at 7:27 a.m. on Feb 6, 2008:
THIERRY: These photos are nothing compared to the real thing - people singing and dancing in the streets in a huge celebration. I suggest you to "prendre l'avion jusqu'à Rio" next year.

SPILLY: It's our revenge! But don't get so envious of us: it rained a lot during the four days of Carnivals, the sky was alwyas gray and it was hard to get some really colorful images. Hope the weather will be better next year.

ANGELA, BANA, ANDRE: Danke, thanks, thanks!

ANNELIES: Most of these photos were taken using my super lenses, so I didn't have to jump on nor do any radical procedure. The lyrics you quoted say: "In February there are Carnivals / I have a beetle and a guitar / I cheer for Flamengo / and I have a black girlfriend called Teresa" - ok, it may not make any sense, but it's part of a song ("I live in a tropical country / blessed by God / and beautiful by nature / In Frebruary... etc). Bwana for your PTC (pro tabblow critic).

PAM: Thanks! I tried to capture the details and make the whole thing look like an abstraction - but everything in these photos have a meaning and help to tell a story. There's a script for each parade, and the floats and disguises have to "translate" it.
DocEna said at 7:37 a.m. on Feb 6, 2008:
BEAUTIFUL SHARP LIVE COLRS..GREAT TABBLO MY FRIEND.
Eduardo.affonso said at 7:47 a.m. on Feb 6, 2008:
PATTY: "Epitome of celebration"? Wow, that's a great compliment. Thank you!

PAT: Carnivals are really eye candy. It's impossible not to get mesmerized.

NANCY: These photos show part of the "alegoric cars" used for the traditional parades of the "Escolas de Samba" (schools of samba). Each "school" has a theme ("colections", "the arrival of the royal family in 1808", "workers of Brazil", "Japanese immigration" etc) and the cars & costumes (plus the specially composed music and the original choreography) have to tell his story - like in a opera or musical. All this is used only once, for the parade.

HILAH: These are not crocos, these are... snakes! (or dragons? dunno....). Why do you have to wait for your retirement to come here and have fun? The younger you are, the more you'll enjoy this craziness, believe me.

Excellent job !

Your country's tourism department should hire you as the master promoter for Brazil, Eduardo! I have never seen photos that express the passion, the color, the exuberance, the artistry, the pizzazz, the wonderful craziness of Carnaval like yours do! Every image is pure delight! You should publish ALL your Carnaval photos in a beautiful book - I would definitely buy for myself and my friends!
