Well, i was going through the photos from a jam session, and i almost deleted this one! then i thought of the WC group, and made the tabblo. it does impart energy! the music was so great. I wish I could link you to it.

I can almost SEE the motion! Sometimes we discharge pics because they are not "perfect", but movement is perfect in this case.

I really like this kind of blurry photos, this is very good! =)
Cruising said at 12:31 p.m. on Feb 6, 2008:
That is very cool.

Here is a trick I use for this type of shot. If you have an SLR with a flash, set it to Rear Sync and use the same "shutter speed"... you will get the movement, but the flash will go off all the way at the end. So they will be "crisp" at that moment.

It's a neat effect.
Pkeener said at 12:41 p.m. on Feb 6, 2008:
thanks, bob. i actually shot this without flash, and slow shutter speed, just to experiment. it looks like there is a window full of daylight, but, it's actually nighttime with incadescent light. the muscians were also moving..so a double whammy! I will give that technique a try.
Debdog said at 12:48 p.m. on Feb 6, 2008:

Pam, this is just a perfect picture for the WC group.
LatentE said at 1:57 p.m. on Feb 6, 2008:
Nice feel for the circumstances. Good motion in the guitar players, especially the one on the right. Not a flattering view of the harmonica player. Looks a little like a long haired, bald, Groucho Marx in a hot dog eating contest. And looks like a woman at that. I'd be wary of showing the pic to that person, unless they have a very good sense of humor.
Decoy said at 2:12 p.m. on Feb 6, 2008:
I think the way you made the tabblo really made it. It turned out really cool, and is a perfect picture for the wc theme. Very, very nice! Well done Pam! =)

Du mouvement, du rythme, VIVE le BLUES, salut mon amie.
Lifequest22 said at 8:41 p.m. on Feb 6, 2008:
The blur gives the feel of the guitars strumming and humming. I like it.
Domieb2 said at 11:25 p.m. on Feb 6, 2008:
Love this sort of shot. All the color and shape blurring together... one can see suggestion of what's there, and the brain fills in the rest.
Nakedeast said at 1:11 p.m. on Feb 7, 2008:

A jazz photo book wouldn't be a coffee table book. What would it be (apart from smoke-stained)? Whatever it might be called, I can see such a book in your future -- and I want an autographed copy.

Well how did I miss this one? Asleep at the Wheel (another good blues group...) I guess. Diggin' your shades on the avatar, babe.
ElZorroTOX said at 7:28 p.m. on Feb 11, 2008:
Perfect! It works so well I think because of the subject. The music's vibrations make the camera shake.....that's my take.
Pkeener said at 9:16 p.m. on Feb 11, 2008:

Very neat Pam, I like the way you have captured the motion and the hazy, blurry effect you have created with your slow shutter and lighting. Great experiment.
TavarES said at 6:23 p.m. on Feb 17, 2008:
I always was one gotten passionate for bues, but I go to make a commentary to this type of foto.~~ When I make a photo as this, I always say that it is technique! A photo with energy and movement!~~ The small youngster, when arrives it?
Pkeener said at 7:07 p.m. on Feb 17, 2008:
Hi Joan!! So good to hear from you! thanks so much.
Afonso..hello, my friend! the grandchild is due in May!
AliDar said at 2:09 p.m. on Feb 19, 2008:
Yep, you really do get a sense of the motion because of the rhythm, especially with the guitar in the foreground; the multiple exposures shows more than one split second in time: the strum, the downward movement of the guitar, the movement of the guitar player's hand, AND the tapping of his foot. Very cool! :)
Gerardfotografeert said at 5:49 p.m. on Feb 19, 2008:
Awesome work Pam, I would like to hera the blues, i'm a great fan of it.
