Here is a trick I use for this type of shot. If you have an SLR with a flash, set it to Rear Sync and use the same "shutter speed"... you will get the movement, but the flash will go off all the way at the end. So they will be "crisp" at that moment.
It's a neat effect.
Pkeener said at 12:41 p.m. on Feb 6, 2008: thanks, bob. i actually shot this without flash, and slow shutter speed, just to experiment. it looks like there is a window full of daylight, but, it's actually nighttime with incadescent light. the muscians were also moving..so a double whammy! I will give that technique a try.

Looks a little like a long haired, bald, Groucho Marx in a hot dog eating contest. And looks like a woman at that. I'd be wary of showing the pic to that person, unless they have a very good sense of humor.

AliDar said at 2:09 p.m. on Feb 19, 2008: Yep, you really do get a sense of the motion because of the rhythm, especially with the guitar in the foreground; the multiple exposures shows more than one split second in time: the strum, the downward movement of the guitar, the movement of the guitar player's hand, AND the tapping of his foot. Very cool! :)
