Drought in Texas? You decide
 
In this large cove it has been this way for months.
 
This little sailboat isn't going anywhere.
 
We nromally jet ski in this cove because the water is usually calm.
 
Another angle of the same cove, a popular place for fish to spawn.
 
The little sailboat looks lonely.
 
There is normally a small beach here. Now it's a BIG beach!
 
These docks are on the island where there are alot of very large homes. Looks like they are in the "same boat" as we are! Haha

You know, what else can I say. It's dry here in Texas.
 
Won't be long and this puddle will be gone.
 
As I took all of these pictures today, it is just so difficult to believe that it has gotten this way. It will take a long time to come back.

We surely needed a close-up of the lonely sailboat. Notice the red ball in front. That's to anchor it so it doesn't float away.
 
Notice the extended white PVC underneath the dock for the sprinklers.
 
Now you can walk lakeside to visit these neighbors.

These residents are paying alot of money to have this cove dredged.

This is the cove between the Tee box and the Green on Hole #10. My golf ball always goes in the water. Not anymore!

I still remember when we had this to look at and enjoy. But it is still beautiful and we are so lucky to live here.

How was this lake formed? How long has this drought been going on? Sometimes it doesn't take as long to fill back up as you might think. Lake Tahoe a couple of years ago was very, very low, but this summer it was at a record high water level.

This is a Corp of Engineers Lake. We supply water to Tarrant County and to other lakes that are even worse than ours. Lake Lavon is 18 feet down. The drought started towards the end of last year. If we get some heavy rains it will fill up pretty quickly we hope. The problem is that we don't get any rain. You have given me hope telling me about Lake Tahoe. I'm just impatient. I want it to happen now! Thanks for your interest. It is very much appreciated!

I wish I could just bottle a few thousand gallons of water and send them to you but that's pretty impractical I guess. Hang in there--it has to rain sooner or later, right?!

Great sharing of where you live! I feel like I've visited with you while driving around on a little golf cart....zooooom.....LOL Sad to see...yet, it is still gorgeous (sure, not as gorgeous as with WATER..but still!! I agree....a pretty little paradise!). I laughed at some of your cute comments---like not having to be worried about your golf balls getting lost in water!! haha.

Thanks everyone for your good thoughts. We are getting some rain today. We need downpours but it is a step in the right direction. It will be more beautiful again someday. I will always remain optimistic!

a great piece of sharing here deetrow. that large lake is seriously low and I hate to think how many gallons it would take to fill it again. you need a lot of rain - if you need consoling send single plane ticket an I'm on my way lol

So glad to see that, Zach, my son-in-law looked at this Tabblo. When they were with us in July we couldn't take the boat out and could barely get the jet skis out. Sure hope next summer will be better!

I hadn't seen that until today. I think of the birds, fish and other animals which also need this lake to survive. Hope it has rained enough to bring the lake back to its normal levels. And can't wait to see the new pics of this area - it does look like paradise!

At first I thought you were teasing, Deetrow! Here in Houston we always have "flood watches!" But your wonderful photos and Tabblo told a far different story. There are a lot of things going on in the upper atmosphere right now that may change the climatological makeup of Texas and the whole Southwest...as well as the rest of the world. Here's my wish that you get drenched before Xmas!

AJ, I took all of these pictures on October 9th and did this Tabblo that day. Yes, the climate is definitely changing. We got rain yesterday but it didn't amount to much. Thanks for your good wishes for rain before Christmas! Be sure to look at my Tabblo, "Time to Bring in the Hoses." I am updating it periodically. You will see the difference in how our lake normally looks in comparison to how it is today.

Hey, sorry it took me so long to view this. That is horrible. It is alot worse than I ever remember it getting. I'm sure it will be back soon. We've been getting a fair amount of rain the last couple weeks.
