These pictures bring back memories. There was a house just down the block from where I lived that had a stairway leading up to the side of a porch entryway for the second floor. The stairway was the usual slightly winding one with a wrought iron railing. But the second floor porch was supported at the front corners by two round wood beams. There was an opening at the top of the stairway railing where a kid (me) could fit through and then slide down the wooden pillar like a fireman. Needless to say doing this really annoyed the woman that owned the house, though I think she was more worried we kids might get hurt.

Amiga--this is different for you. I really like it. The 4 different colored doors really stand out. Lots of color and great contrast by adding the B & W.

Shining through

I like seeing your city, colorful doors, stairs, and bikes in the snow. Something hopeful about that: when the snow melts, they're ready to go!
Leftofcenter said at 7:58 a.m. on Feb 12, 2008:
Thx Allan, from your lips to- doesn't look like we'll be biking anytime soon though.
Thanks everyone. These pics were taken in lower Outremont (LatentE, Bill and Uma would know), an artsy, bohemian quartier of Montréal avec un accent aigu ;) Around the corner petits cafes, small bookstores and health food stores. No McDo.

This was another of my, 'Oooh, this one's my favourite,' 'No, this is,' 'No, it isn't,' tabblos. You've picked from my 'favourite subjects' list, which makes it difficult, and you've shot better than well, which makes it harder still. I like the range (You don't get trapped in one way of seeing things.) and the way that certain photos seem to contain stories -- which, of course, they do. I also like the way the tabblo as a whole drifts from bright to white.
Leftofcenter said at 5:14 p.m. on Feb 23, 2008:
Thx Seanan, thank you all! I set off that morning to shoot the outdoor iron staircases only which are typical to Montreal. But on that particular street, I started noticing the colorful doors, colors you see in Italy and Greece. Then I picked up on the bikes stuck in the snow! The bikes almost took over the tabb actually- they were everywhere!
