Visitors to Manuel Antonio National Park have to cross an estuary to enter: Sometimes it's an easy walk across the beach, but if the tide is rising you need to pay a few colonnes to cross by boat. Inside, a relatively flat path through the rain forest follows the coast, with several beaches along the way. |

Calvin struggled a bit in the heat and humidity; he much preferred playing in the waves instead. We dragged him along for a hike out to the fourth beach, but it was long past naptime. Doug had to carry the sleeping child nearly 4km back to the entrance. |
