Head of the Charles 2006: The Fans

250,000 people show up in Cambridge to watch two days of boat racing— this spectacle is called The Head of the Charles.

Since most of the good races are on tomorrow (Sunday), I figured that I would start with a tabblo on the audience. These are the folks that make the event so much fun.

 

 

 

 

 

This is the only boat you will see in this tabblo.

Nada Surf played for the crowd in the afternoon which was incredibly groovy for all involved. People of all ages and sizes were getting down and having a good time.

 

In the middle of all of this, I ran into a new member of team Tabblo, Jen, who was walking down the river with her boyfriend. Go Jen for wearing your Tabblo t-shirt.

Follow-up: Here is my second day tabblo with some actual boats and races in it. I missed the boat that sank by just minutes but if you like boat races, you'll want to head over there.

a perfect day for the HoC... great pictures too. i really like the random crowd shots of people looking around. was it just me or was all of boston and cambridge just too people-crazy today?
