Australia Says Sorry

At 9 am on 13 Feb 2008, Prime Minister Kevin Rudd formally apologised to indigenous people of Australia, particular the 'stolen generations'.

These photos were taken in front of Old Parliment House after the Prime Minister's speech. A lot of the speakers photographed were not happy with the speech and demanded compensation.

Very nice reportage photography, giving a feel for the non-official view of the occasion.

Beautiful tabblo Sue!!! I for one feel that all humans were born equal, regardless of where they came from, poor or rich, no one is any better than the other. Sometimes we don't know of the turmoils of the world and what others are suffering, a tabblo like this, opens our eyes to know this, and it is hard to except that anyone is treated any different than the other. God help the ones that do that.

yes, as Doreen said, we all are supposed to be equal, but I know in fact we are not ...just thinking what we as NORTH AMERICANS did to the indigenous tribes that were here before the "colonies" and they took much better care of the land than we do now!!! They used what they needed, and thanked and revered the earth, and thanked the spirits of animals they killed for FOOD...not sport :) OK! i will get off my soapbox now :) Great job Sue!!

Thanks, it was quite a special experience to go listen to their response. Mr. Rudd was in New Parliment House, I don't know where he went afterwards. Most of the people were gathered on the lawns of New Parliment House or inside the Great Hall (you had to line up early to get in). I went a bit late, so some of the crowds had dispersed already.

Bravissima. This sort of things happened all around the world and now we all apologise.....but nothing can be like before, anymore. What about the rights of people that have been almost completely destroyed ? It's very difficult to answer to their demands................
