Stairways to nowhere

PS. The world is a little bit sadder today.

Henri Salvador died. Just found this video, in which he sings bossa nova with Rosa Passos, a great Brazilian artist.

Au revoir, Henri.

there's an expression in English "spiral down". they invented that expression for photos like this. very clever. is this how you're feeling?

Cool!

ANNELIES: I thought of adding a clever quote, but all I could associate to these photos was...

Step one
We can have lots of fun
Step two
Theres so much we can do
Step three
Its just you and me
Step four
I can give you more
Step five
Dont you know the time has arrived
(Step sex
Let's make six!)

GREAT SHOT EDU ..ONDE É??
Eduardo.affonso said at 8:43 a.m. on Feb 13, 2008:
Thanks, SUE.

BOB: I knew only enlightened minds would appreciate my "clever quote"...

Estive lá ontem, e acabei arriscando algumas fotos no Vale do Anhangabaú, Viaduto Santa Efigênia.

A look into infinity.
Klfillar said at 10:00 a.m. on Feb 13, 2008:
I have seen a lot of these spiral staircase photos before, but yours stands out. The color of the stairs make them look like they are metal which in turn makes them look very industrial.
Eduardo.affonso said at 10:06 a.m. on Feb 13, 2008:
TUNDE: You must have really great earings... I love steps which can take us anywyere - or nowhere, which makes no difference at all.

LINDA: Infinity is always vertiginous, isn't it?

KIMBERLY: These stairs are recovered with marble, but as the photos are b&w they do look industrial. This place deserved a longer essay, but pics weren't allowed there, and I couldn't steal more than these.

Good idea, STEVE. And thanks for your comment.

PAM: Did you know that Henri Salvador was one of the sources of inspiration for Jobim to create bossa nova? "Dans mon île" was already bossa nova, even before bossa nova existed.

Fundamental é mesmo o amor…
É impossivel ser feliz sozinho...

How can you gather all this in one tabblo? Henri Salvador, Rosa Passos (maravilhoooooooooosa), their smoth voices… e ainda estas fotos? A man like Salvador never dies. He’ll always be among us. I loved what he said once in an interveiw: "I don't sing, I whisper. When you whisper into the mike, you are able to transmit real feeling."

Lindas fotos. Eu não sinto vertigem.
Pkeener said at 1:32 p.m. on Feb 13, 2008:

Túneles. Misterio. Infinito. ¿Qué más se puede pedir...? Ah... adiviná: "as escadas nao tem...".
Mirella said at 3:18 p.m. on Feb 13, 2008:
Veramente una scala infinita, bellissime foto (stolen, you said ?) of a stair that give me a bit of angst . I remember very well Henry Salvador, it was in Italy many times and for a long time. I like his voice. He was a person full of life. Thans for remembering. Ciao

Beautiful images of a striking stairway. Almost dizzying. Looks like a whirlpool. It reminded me a little (especially the one looking up - with little texture) of the interior of the Guggenheim Museum, which has a similar spiral walkway along the interior wall of the large main area. The art work is placed along the winding path. But the walkway is so small compared to the open space interior that there's truth to the saying that the building dominates any art exhibit it might contain.
Eduardo.affonso said at 5:20 p.m. on Feb 13, 2008:
Vertiginoso, eu diria...
Eduardo.affonso said at 5:28 p.m. on Feb 13, 2008:
SEANAN, PAT: I'm glad you enjoyed these photos. These curves remind me of roses, sometimes.

PAM: Rosa and Henri were a perfect match. Whispers, sensibility, swing. Impossible not to fall in love wih them, uh?

LATENTE: Frank Lloyd Wright has always been one of my favorite architects - but the Guggenheim in NY was a bit disappointing when I finally visited it. It's interesting that this small stairs could evoke one of the most famous museums. Not many people would make such link.
Kw said at 6:14 p.m. on Feb 13, 2008:
i just have to wonder where this staircase is leading us to.
Liliana said at 7:13 p.m. on Feb 13, 2008:
Liliana said at 7:26 p.m. on Feb 13, 2008:
Ebucar said at 9:43 p.m. on Feb 13, 2008:
Liliana, não desista de ver o video. É imperdível.
Ebucar said at 9:48 p.m. on Feb 13, 2008:
Eduardo.affonso said at 6:02 a.m. on Feb 14, 2008:
KEVIN: I know the truth (it leads us from the 1st floor to the 20th floor, or even higher - there's a terrace), but I prefer to take this staircase in a metaphorical way - so we will never know where it's leading us to.

New Kids on the Block?). Aí incluí o PS no tabblo, e a brancadeira ficou meio perdida.

Ebucar said at 9:47 a.m. on Feb 14, 2008:
Liliana said at 10:02 a.m. on Feb 14, 2008:
Liliana said at 12:22 p.m. on Feb 14, 2008:
Eduardo.affonso said at 3:35 p.m. on Feb 14, 2008:

Cierto, eran Tom y Doug, qué mala memoria.
