Tyresta National Park, Sweden

Tyresta National Park

is one of the largest untouched virgin forests outside the mountain regions.

Few large cities in Europe have virgin forest in their back yards, as Stockholm does.

Tyresta's foremost sights are the varied virgin forest, the 300-year-old giant firs, the gorge landscape with its ice-polished slopes and the lichen-covered stony ground.

Tyresta National Park is located only 20 kilometres south east of Stockholm. Many visitors to Sweden visit the capital Stockholm, so this is probably the easiest opportunity to visit one of the National Parks in Sweden. The park is 2,000 hectares big and was established in 1993.

What a beautiful and serene place. I'd love to be able to see those 300 year old trees in person.
