Round Lake Library Presents...ANCIENT NUBIA!

Nubians worshipped cats, as do many librarians

On Wednesday, February 20, 2008, Briana presented her first Ancient Civilizations program of the year, bringing Ancient Nubia to the library for our young archaeologists to learn about.

Welcome to Nubia!

Concentration

Future cartographers

Having just worked on the Nile at school, many were familiar with the maps

Sometimes the head archaeologist assisted in the excavation

Maps lead the way to Nubia

Nubians used elephants in war

Working together

Nubian Barbie

The game mancala dates back to Ancient Nubia

Hard hats are always worn on the excavation sites

Adorned cats were common in Nubia

Religious symbols are quite fascinating

Is that a big beetle buried in the sand?

Nubians adorned their horses with jewels

Nubian script and pictographs

Sometimes working in a group makes it more enjoyable

Who knew hard work could be so fun?

Digging for scarab beetles

Intricate beadwork proved very enthralling

Painting clay pots brought out the artist in everyone

Nubian pyramids were quite fascinating

Briana's own Nubian giraffe pot

Props always help to make learning fun

Prize bags were handed out for finished activity booklets

This scroll says "Briana is awesome" and I think we all agree
