Forest Hills Cemetery

Forest Hills Cemetery in Boston is a wonderful place for a walk. Many famous Bostonians are buried here, including Anne Sexton, e.e. cummings, and Eugene O'Neil. In addition, there are quite a few outdoor sculptures and contemporary art.

When my first son was a baby, I used to walk him in the stroller here because we lived just a few blocks away.

Here are just a few pictures of our walk today.

These photos look much better at a larger size. The leaves above were from a Ginkgo Bilbao tree (we called it a "Japanese Oak" before we knew).

The geese are real, the dog is not - he's guarding the Barnard family plot. I'm not sure whether it's a St. Bernard or not.

The picture at the bottom is especially freaky. We were just wandering around and under a bridge was this picture stuck in the rock. It changed as you walked by and you can sort of see the outstretched hands of the person. Eerie, yet peaceful.

the Victorians were noted cemetery walkers and you look very much a victorian lady at ease in the last photo.

Chris! Great shots, I've never been to Forest Hills cemetary. To my New Yorker's ears, it sounds like it is in Queens.
