Drottningholm - Chinese Pavilion

The Chinese Pavilion

Kina Slott in Swedish, is a small pleasure palace - perfect for partying - hidden away in the gardens of Drottningholm Castle.

The Chinese Pavilion

was given to Queen Lovisa Ulrika on her birthday 1753 by her husband King Adolf Fredrik as a surprise gift.

The original wooden building - that was built and transported there during a night - didn't last for long and it was replaced 10 years later by the current "Kina Slott"

The Confidence

a very privat diningroom. Read about it =>

The Guards Tent

Built in 1781. The idea behind the building was to give it an exoctic look and resemble a Turkish army camp.

It's interesting to notice that the pavillion is not that Chinese on the inside.
Akeke said at 10:01 a.m. on Dec 10, 2006:
Eduardo: Not that many artists had been to China so the picture of China was rather idealised in that time (18th century)
