5 Days in London - Part 1

Our arrival in London = travelling the London underground for the first time.

To sum up the experience: OMG

While it's very convenient, we have had to drag our luggage up and down flights of stairs just to change onto different tube lines. There is also no ventilation in the entire tube system, which means it can get very stuffy.

For 90% of the time, I was being packed like sardines on the tube. (>_<!)

Luckily - our hotel is nicely situated - just 2 short blocks away from Queensway with loads of supermarkets, restaurants, Internet access, bus stations, post office and even 2 tube stations. For the price we pay - the room and location are way beyond our expectations.

We began our first day with great enthusiasms.

First stop - Big Ben and the Parliament. We even caught the Big Ben chiming on video. From this side of the river, we can see the London eye.

And of course - how can we not take a picture next to a London telephone box! (I was looking pissed off because the sun was in my eyes.. lol, it wasn't intentional)

Right! Onto the Buckingham Palace. We were lucky - the 'Change of Guard' was on that day.

As you can see, almost all the tourists in London were there, I'm quite certain. ;)

Moving on, we headed to Westminster Abbey - absolutely magnificent interior (no photograph allowed inside) - though the outside architecture is just as brilliant!

For the rest of the afternoon, we spent it at the British Museum. My favourite spot for the entire place is, of course, the magnificent foyer. But equally lovely is the library (hey I'm a librarian so library is cool).
