The Sigurd carving
is a runic carving not on a stone but into a flat rock. Located 1 km from where I live. It's from around 1000 AD and tells the story of Sigurd killing the evil snake Fafner.
The saga comes from the Edda which are collections of folk-tales relating to Viking Mythology or Viking Heroes. The Edda was written by the Icelandic historian Snorre Sturlasson around 1220. |
