National Poetry Month I: Three from Buson

buying leeks,

then walking home

under bare trees

blowing from the west

fallen leaves gather

in the east

coolness;

the sound of the bell

leaving the bell

The dried leaves captured by the dried grass almost seem like a person with upraised arm. Is that a new bronze bell? The green looks fresh.

I can't claim the words, only the images. They were written by Yosa Buson, one of the haiku masters. I'm not sure about the age on the bell. The top photo is from a pocket park where I sometimes wait for two of my children after school. The second is from Central Park in New York, and the third from Weston, Mo. Thank you, gracias and merci for the kind comments.
