Cool shots Pam, you have a nice stuff in this set =)

Nice range of photos and messages. My favorite is the old sax player with the cowboy hat. The reflection shows no one paying any attention to him other than perhaps going to the other side of the street. But he plays on focusing on the task at hand.
Siagian said at 1:06 a.m. on Mar 13, 2008:
fantastic photos throughout. the collection of signs have a wider range of emotions than dear governor schwarzenegger. my fav is the one advertising for a free loan--i wish we had that bank over here! =)
Abking said at 1:10 a.m. on Mar 13, 2008:
Pam, I really like this tabblo. You've got some gems tucked away in your files. I've never seen a street musician playing a sax like the guy in your photo. Saxophone version of "Cool Water"? The back and forth recognition in the "no smokes" photo ping pongs the subject/observer relationship and lets the low key anxiety produced by this speak for itself. The red truck in "morning rounds" looks cheerful and busy against the concrete slabs, and the signs are funny.
Andre. said at 1:11 a.m. on Mar 13, 2008:
Somewhat funny and sad at the same time. Nice set, Pam.

another great set of pictures pam :) i recognize quite a few of the places in these pictures, some of them never looked so good! my fav of course is the last one - the sunny side of the street...and now i've got that song in my head! :)
Jigs said at 2:41 a.m. on Mar 13, 2008:
I really enjoyed this Tabblo of yours, Pam! Soooooo cooooool! Every image has a story, and each one's told with your classic tongue-in-cheek wit. More please ;-)

Awesome!! Being what my friends call "the eternal optimist" I would have to say that "sunny side of the street" is my favorite pic but I really got a chuckle out of That Scary Place and It's Cheaper Than Dating. LOL Oh, and I'm going to be humming that Who song for the rest of the day now....and that's not a bad thing. Nice job!
Leftofcenter said at 7:15 a.m. on Mar 13, 2008:
the cowboy w/ the sax is a kewl keener trademark, 5 somewhere gives me hope ;) but the sunny side of the street is the bestest for all kinds of reasons...
Pkeener said at 9:02 a.m. on Mar 13, 2008:
Thanks, guys! I really appreciate your thoughtful comments. I love to make you think! ;)

Here is the back story to this tabblo; I had intended to use most of these images in my last tabblo; BLUE MONDAY. Tabblo had other ideas that night, and kept blowing up my work. grrrrrrr, So i settled on the one photo tabblo, and then i felt so weird, leaving all those other photos lost in cyberspace. And wendy, that song has been in my brain for a few months now,! Does that happen to you, too? whew!

The little red truck in the first shot patrols the Light Rail station, Downtown. I happened to be up early one morning, and walking on a bridge above when he came around the corner. Photography is 90% luck! ALLAN, your observation is dead on. I was stopped at the red light and the cart was sitting there alone. I grabbed my camera, and as soon as i took a couple shots, the guy comes up to my window and tries to bum a cigarette. i told him i don't smoke, so he sees my camera and he asks me for some money to buy some. Since i had taken advantage of the momment by photographing his cart, i gave him the dollar you can barley see on the ground in the lower right corner (behind the empty cigarette pack) so he says, "A BUCK?? that won't buy me a pack of nuthin!!!" So he turns away ( i fired off several) and throws my dollar on the ground in disgust. I didnt know if i should laugh or cry!! I laughed and he heard me, turned around and i shot that one. then he smiled and waved as i drove away. It really made my day.

Latent and Annelies. That sax player was so amazing. I took the shot from across the street, and really liked the way it came out with the reflection of all the people rushing by. Nary a one stopping to listen or contribute.

Andre, I think so too. That's Life. Happy and sad. Jigs, thank you!! and be careful what you ask for.

OK OK. Starting to sound like an Oscar Acceptance speech here. Next time i won't make a tabblo and go to bed! Too hard to catch up and address all your thoughts!

And Leftie, you know those two for just for you.

Drop your pants here is by far my fave! I've got a place around my house that puts up some pretty funny stuff and have been wanting to take pics of it for quite some time. This is an awesome collection, my dear - and the captions are spot on!

Great photos and I love the captions and how you've arranged them; you had me chuckling and sighing in that 'ain't that the truth' kind of way. ... Oh, and I love how it's not a social criticism. ... but I just gotta say something, tattoos aren't really scary! <G>
Photosfornow said at 2:03 p.m. on Mar 13, 2008:
Pam, I too echo the nice mix of pixs here. The guy who needs smokes and then throws your money away is a cool shot. This brings to mind the Stones free verse "You don't get what you want, but you get what you need" or something close to that, nice work here.
Wildthing said at 2:17 p.m. on Mar 13, 2008:
Thanks for leaving me a comment. It prompted me to look at your work, and WOW......
I ended up seeing a refreshing, original set that I had to make a favorite. I love this series of shots. The sax player is terrific, and your one-liners are perfect.

My favs are the sign about the pants (wonder if the store has gotten mooned lately?), the guy who wouldn't accept your dollar (great story), the sax man, the sunny side...this is going into my favs.

This is one of those tabblos that i like to keep coming back to. There's so much here. Lots of details in each photo. Needless to say I like each shot and the wonderful, witty captions. The first shot really draws me--guess it's that solitary red in the middle of all that gray. And of course the sax player is really a unique shot. The photo speaks loudly. Love them all.
