Eagle Creek

barry

After 6 miles, Eagle Creek trail reaches tunnel (above) that was chipped from solid rock, and passes behind 120 ft. Tunnel Falls. The entire trail was blasted from sheer cliffs in 1910, coinciding with the opening of Oregon's Columbia River Highway.

with Mother Nature as very green backdrop your photos show just how minuscule and fragile creatures we are... gawd be careful on those trails!! terrific pics of course.

That looks like a great adventure trek. I'm surprised the trail isn't covered in slippery growth. I guess it gets cleared regularly.

Allan. I have been there! My photos are nothing like this. this is really nice, the tabblo colors and your lay out. 6 mile hike! Really like the shot of Barry crossing the river/stream. You did a great job showing the scale of the waterfall. i felt so small when i stood on that observation point.

Thanks. It's hard to take a bad photo in this beautiful place. I watch my step on trails like this, Annalies. Usually there are a lot of dogs with their people, this time there were a lot of trail runners. LatentE: Early in the winter a landslide took out a bridge and the trail was closed until about a month ago. You can see the new bridge in the upper-left corner of the last photo. I hope your winter ends soon, Woody. It's supposed to be spring soon! Debdog, this is in Oregon, about 40 miles east of Portland. Pam, it's actually a 12 mile hike:6 in, 6 out. You may have been there, but I have a feeling you were at Multnomah Falls. It's in the same area and readily accessible from the highway. You can see it from ground level, or take a steep, short trail up to an observation point. Sound familiar?

Une grande promenade. On y respire toute la beauté merveilleuse de la nature. Merci Allan.

yes, Allan. I think you are correct, actually. we were on our way to the Columbia River head, to watch the para-gliders. I love Oregon.

Wonderful photos; you really seem to have captured the magic of the place. ... I'd watch my step too; I don't like precipices.... but it's great to see them through the eyes of someone more daring than I. Btw, that tunnel though the rock and behind the waterfall is amazing; I love the shot where you show both sides divided by the white water!

Wow... what an awesome place... someday maybe (I have a cousin begging me to come to Oregon) BUT... I'm afraid the hike would take me 2 days as I'd be taking 300 pictures along it ... ;)
