I don't know that Wisconsin is known for its surf, but on sunny, windy, spring Saturdays like today, it seemed perfectly natural. |

One kite-surfer repeatedly lept off the pier into the sand, and the other lept into the water. |

Who knew?
Lake Michigan: the new Pacific! |

The temperature was 38ºF without the wind. With the wind, it had to be below freezing. |

Evidently, it's hard work. |

Only once did their lines get crossed and bring down their kites, but the wind made it easy to get right back to it. |

With a Civil War Program going on across the harbor, the kite-surfers had the beach and pier to themselves, mostly. |

The wind must have been blowing north-northeast, because it pushed them repeatedly up the shore. |

Despite the show they put on, not many people were brave enough to suffer the wind to watch for very long. |

After hours of kite-surfing, it seemed their energy finally wound down. I wish I could say the same for the whipping wind. |
