Ema, I don't have the exact date of when this picture was taken, but since it was WW1, it had to be sometime between 1917 & 1918. The Americans did not join in the war till 1917.

Nice image. The correction for perspective needed (most people by far were in the hand and torch) reminds me of the pictures of perspective sidewalk drawings that appear on the web. What's far away from the viewpoint has to be much much bigger.

I have seen a few of these before. They were very popular around the time of the First World War. What amazes me is the planning that had to go into designing and executing it. Notice, for example, that the view chosen is slightly from one side so that the face is in profile. This would have been much easier to do than creating the facial detail with different color of clothing. Thanks for sharing this!
