THE OTHER CALIFORNIA

Please take some time to visit these missions. There is a total of 21 missions in the Golden State.

The missions are a standing reminder of an earlier time, a time long past, when the Spanish were colonizing Alta California. They teach us of the introduction of Europeans to the California Native Americans, and the struggles that both groups would endure.

All missions are modern day treasures, testimonies to the determination and faith of the people who built them, and a path backwards in time. They have influenced many aspects of the Californian history, and continue to be an important part of the state today.

Terrific shots. Have visited the mission at Santa Barbara, back in the 70's. Wish I'd had time to see more.
