The Vladimir cathedral

In 1919 the revolution has destroyed a cathedral almost up to the basis. It blew up, have brought down crosses. There were only walls. And children played ruins within many years. About five years restoration back began. Many efforts were enclosed to restore former shape. I do not have religious fanaticism. And I do not go in church. But I am very glad that this cathedral have restored.

Thanks for some very nice pictures. I'm from Lincoln, Nebraska, known in the U.S. as the city of churches. I've also spent some time in Chicago where they have some nice Cathedrals.

We do have some nice buildings, but of course we're only just over 100 years old, so although we look pretty good against the other New World cities, the Old World cathedrals and churches blow us away. Give us another few hundred years. We'll get there. ---gk
