Grandpa passed away when I was only maybe 8 or 9 and Grandma when I was 13 I believe....My dear Mother, their youngest child, one of 9...left us 8 years ago. Most aunties and uncles gone now too! All except one. This indeed is a special Tabblo for me. |

I just happened to have an appt. in a dental office in my new place of residence (pop. 16,000 and a large farm community surrounding it) and spotted this house and thought ...'THAT LOOKS JUST LIKE GRAMMA & GRAMPA'S HOUSE!" They retired into Camrose after homesteading many years in this area. Sure enough, I found out 2 days later from the dentists that yes, there used to a lumber yard across the street and then I KNEW it was their house. I hadn't seen for at least 40+ years but am amazed that I still intuitively knew it was the house where so many wonderful meals were devoured! and my Mom and aunties spoke in German with Grandma....Grampa sat in his leather chair in dining room and sweetly smiled and talked so softly!.....My mother was like him!. I intend to contact the 'business' it now is, THE CITIZEN'S ADVOCACY GROUP, to see if I may come in to take pictures of the magnificent woodwork, fireplace etc. very soon! What A WONDERFUL FIND for me.....brought out many nostalgic and good memories....PMC |
