It was "Community Days" for the 2nd graders. On the first day, one half of the 2nd graders got to be the 'consumer' while the other half got to be an 'employee'. On the 2nd day, they switched roles so everyone had a chance at both 'consumer' and 'employee'. There was a bank, movie theater, post office, ice cream stand, market, recreation center and a police station. Money was given to the consumer to spend as they chose while the employee had to keep a log of what was earned and spent. At the store they could buy fruit or cookies, popcorn at the movie theater or ice cream from the ice cream stand. They were also able to purchase stamps and mail a letter. Though being an employee was fun, most agreed it was a lot more work than being a consumer. I think we can all agree with that. Spending money is always more fun than working! |
