Fundição Progresso

 

 

Fundição Progresso is a cultural center located in a historical building in the heart of Lapa, a popular neighborhood in downtown Rio, famous for its bars,  night life and musical scene.

 

It's near the Arcos da Lapa, the old aqueduct built by slaves in 1723, now used only by the tram that links the Central area with the bohemian neighborhood of Santa Teresa.

Gênio? Menos, RITA, menos... Vai que eu começo a acreditar nisso e fico insuportável (como todo gênio que acha que é gênio)?. A Fundição merece outra visita, com mais calma. Só aquela sala de ensaios dava um puta ensaio fotográfico, sem contar a sala de acrobacias, o teatro, a fachada... E claro que a dedicatória seria para você, né?

A Fundição é um lugar ímpar na cidade. essa mistura de tribos e rítmos é muito legal mesmo, aliás a Lapa toda é assim. Pode contar comigo nas suas próximas visitas, vc é sempre uma ótima companhia.

This is an old casthouse, which had been abandoned for many years, until it got restored and turned into a very popular cultural center. Right in front of it there's another interesting cultural space, called Circo Voador ("the flying circus"), where many shows are held every week. This area deserves a new visit, and better photos.

Sim, LILIANA, este é o famoso "bondinho de Santa Teresa" (tem certeza que não andamos nele??). Sua (vastíssima!) cultura musical certamente te ajuda a entender o contexto desta foto: talvez não exista mais "aquela tal malandragem" de que fala o Chico na "Ópera do Malandro", e a Lapa se tornou o endereço (ou, em bom Portugês brasileiro, o "point") dos bares, cafés, casas de espetáculos etc. É, também, ainda, o bairro dos famosos cabarés (lembra do Chico? "ai, se papai me pega agora / abrindo o último botão / será que ele me leva embora / ou não / (...) ou abre um cabaré na Lapa / e aí me contrata como atração").

PAM: This Eulipion you easily recognized is the great musician, composer, arranger and one of the geniuses of our music, Pixinguinha. He was a virtuose of the flute, master of saxophone improvisations and pioneer in orchestration in Brazil, and was always leading the musical evolution at his times. He played a decisive role in the process of integrating percussion instruments of African origin with those of European origin, which was essential for the genesis of the today Brazilian Popular Music.

Pixinguinha composed approximately two thousand songs, some hits of permanent place in the repertoire of Brazilian popular singer. Such is the case of "Carinhoso" (probably the most popular Brazilian song ever).

Belas fotos da Lapa e da Fundição onde acho que nunca entrei. Aquele que aparece em close é o São Sebastião? Tem os olhos parecidos com os seus ( Repare só nas sobrancelhas... )
