dredg/ours/ambulette at The Avalon

Ambulette started out life as Bella Lea, and is fronted by Maura Davis, formerly of Denali. The band itself formed during the summer of 2004, Ambulette came to life when Davis and two of her future bandmates began exchanging tapes between her hometown of Richmond, Virginia and Chicago, where Howard and Rapsys were based. Denali had just split a few months earlier and Davis briefly considered taking a break and perhaps even going back to school. In the end, however, new songs flooded forth. Before long, she’d recorded a handful of new songs on her computer and mailed them to Howard and Rapsys, who’d joined Denali’s lineup during their last tour. Clark, who’d played in Pinebender with Howard, entered later that year.

What grew out of Ambulette’s earliest sessions eventually became The Lottery, an EP recorded during the spring of 2005, to be released March 21st on Astralwerks. A striking debut, the five-song collection brims with moody, impassioned and intimate overtures, topped off with Davis’ expansive range.

The band OURS is the creation of Singer Jimmy Gnecco Guitarist Dave Milone Drummer Tony Angerson and Bassist Scott Greco. Since its creation in 1990, the lineup has evolved but Gnecco has always felt that having a stable group of individuals who could play off each other was important. In high school, Gnecco was in the band Lost Child and later, The Harmony Bandits (which eventually evolved into what is now OURS). Around 1992-1994, OURS released their first album titled Sour under their own label entitled "Beatnik records" owned by Mike Marri who produced Sour. Afterwards, the band dissolved and would not reform again for several years. In 1997, Gnecco started OURS again and quickly drew industry attention. A label bidding war ensued and finally OURS was signed with DreamWorks Records. After 4 years, OURS released their first album, Distorted Lullabies, in 2001. Precious followed in 2002 and was promoted by DreamWorks. A new, as-of-yet untitled album is slated for late 2006 on Geffen Records.

dredg is a progressive alternative band from Los Gatos, California. Their first studio album, Leitmotif, was released by the Universal music label on September 11, 2001. Prior to that, it had been self-released by the members of the band. After the album gained retail space, dredg acquired an almost immediate cult following, owing much to Leitmotif's unique sound and concept. There has also been a movie planned for release as a music video for the entire album, though the project has been stalled. El Cielo, dredg's proper Interscope debut, arrived in autumn 2002, and Deftones producer Terry Date was at the helm for their 2005 effort Catch Without Arms.A video for the single "Bug Eyes" was released. In the spring of 2006, dredg played on the Taste of Chaos tour. In November of 2006 dredg released "Live at the Fillmore."
