Keeli said at 12:47 p.m. on Apr 14, 2008: Hey! I have played the Bluebird in Nashville . . . where is this one? Great picture!
Leftofcenter said at 1:01 p.m. on Apr 14, 2008: having the blues the bluesy way (almost) seems more bearable... (does this make sense to u?) Keener classic. Still the one.
EMA said at 1:03 p.m. on Apr 14, 2008: Very nice! I enjoyed the music too! ;)
Candlepower said at 1:05 p.m. on Apr 14, 2008: Looks a lot like our oud Litha Movie House. Great shot!
Pkeener said at 1:12 p.m. on Apr 14, 2008: Thank you. I drive by this great old building all the time, but the other night i was so entralled by the light at dusk and the BIRDY on the marquee that I had to circle back around and take the shot. So glad I had my camera! The Little Milton song came immediately to mind, so, it was a natural for the Monday Blues.
Lifequest22 said at 1:22 p.m. on Apr 14, 2008: Your Monday Blues are the best thing about Mondays. A good reason to get up and start the day.
Photosfornow said at 1:23 p.m. on Apr 14, 2008: The old Bluebird movie theater in Denver. When I was a teenager I remember seeing "Casa Blanca" the movie there. I lived in South Denver a long time ago, but I still have some family living in the greater Denver area. Thanks for the photo.
Lifequest22 said at 1:24 p.m. on Apr 14, 2008: BTW-love the red signal lights framing on both sides of all that blue.
Pkeener said at 1:38 p.m. on Apr 14, 2008: I wish I would have gotten out of the car to take a better photo, because this really is a nice work of architecture.
LatentE said at 2:33 p.m. on Apr 14, 2008: Great nostalgic image. Beautiful little theater. Most of the local theaters in my area are gone. I wonder how long before they'll be in the same category as Drive-Ins. It's nice to "get out" to see a movie, and when the screens were actually big there was that sense of getting the image quality intended. Not so much anymore with the mini-screening rooms in the "multiplexes." But when popcorn and a drink cost about ten bucks beyond the steep price of a ticket the sense of being ripped off becomes too apparent.
Pkeener said at 2:47 p.m. on Apr 14, 2008: Latent, thanks! I am actually photgraphing all of the old theatres in the Denver area, and will make a tabblo when I am finished. It's been a year long project, and time is running out, because a couple that I shot last year are already being rented out or torn down. I am with you on the Multiplexes. Netflix is my best friend!
Wildthing said at 3:36 p.m. on Apr 14, 2008: This pic jerks at the heartstrings. All the old theaters I took for granted are gone. They're now supermarkets, DIY stores, or have been demolished. Going to the cinema used to be a real adventure. Sadly - as LatentE says - it's all multiplex and food & drink at extortionate prices these days, with the volume jacked-up to give you a headache. You gave me a real nostalgia jag. Thanks, Pam. I look forward to a tab of old theaters from you.
Krisu said at 3:41 p.m. on Apr 14, 2008: Nice shot and I can understand your nostalgic feelings. :)
Jackhonest said at 3:44 p.m. on Apr 14, 2008: I like this. Technically it's very familiar :)
Photosfornow said at 3:46 p.m. on Apr 14, 2008: I also remember the hip art crowd from the UNIVERSITY of DENVER, old DU would hang out at the Bluebird and be ever so cool...
ElZorroTOX said at 4:39 p.m. on Apr 14, 2008: Beautiful picture
Pkeener said at 5:28 p.m. on Apr 14, 2008: Tony, Oh so hip, even now. Unfortunately, the venue isn't large enough for most of the acts they book..Lots of SRO. But the ambience is perfect.
Hey, Jack! Tack! Thank you Kris. Mike, I am a softy when it comes to nostalgia.
Hey Rich!!

MHCityPlanner said at 8:12 p.m. on Apr 14, 2008: There was time when you could walk to these theaters with less than a dollar, meet up with your friends or maybe a girlfriend, see a double feature (and a couple of cartoons) and still have a quarter left. Boy am I getting old, thanks for the memories.
Jigs said at 9:36 p.m. on Apr 14, 2008: How beautifully vintage!

PhotoPop said at 9:36 a.m. on Apr 29, 2008: Lovely capture. I love these old movies houses. We have one in our area, an old church converted to a cinema about fifty years ago, it still has a balcony which is where I go to see the movie.
Pkeener said at 6:42 p.m. on Apr 29, 2008: Thanks, guys. OWWWWW!
Eduardo.affonso said at 8:57 p.m. on May 5, 2008: It's a classic American theater, isn't it? It reminds me of "Back to the future". And this blue is unique.
Marcif said at 6:42 p.m. on May 7, 2008: That is a really cool looking building. The bright blues and the light-colored brick work well together. Nice capture!
