Ouray, Colorado

Our fanciest meal of the trip: dinner at a Mexican food restaurant

The view out the window of the restaurant; the lights on the mountain is the sun trying to shine through the clouds.

The "tiny" bridge is below Box Canyon Falls, a mile or so hike from the motel

The head of the canyon toward Red Mountain Pass

This was the second overnight stop of the trip. After dinner we checked in at the motel then everyone but me went to the Hot Springs to soak and slide. I was asleep before they returned!

This town is wedged into a small valley with a very similar mining history to Telluride. But it never made the transition to mining tourists big time giving it a sleepy nature. There still is an operating gold mine in the area, a bottled water plant, and an ice climbing park.

It is only 10 miles to Telluride but is 50 miles by road!

Looking down the valley and the easiest way in and out of town. There is only one highway through Ouray, US 550.

Being a snowbird in the Mojave Desert during winter I have seen snow here.
Thanks for the show.
