Some Guys in a Band

The Reversocaster, made by my hubby

Dean (my husband)

Bob

Chip

Jack

John

Bob

Well, I thought I'd shake things up a little from my usual cute blogs (kids, cats, flowers) and make a Tabblo of one of the bands my husband plays with. They are called Plum Tuckered. They haven't done any gigs, but they have recorded an album. They wanted a few promo photos for their Web site and I wanted to try out my new lens, so here ya go! I am not sure about all the angles. Mostly I did it so I could get in tight, while fitting their faces and the instrument in the frame.

I seriously think I could do this for a living, this was so much fun!

These were shot in the shade with a 41" silver reflector bouncing sunlight onto them. Nikon D40x, 105mm VR  Nikkor.

Vive la musique, viva la musica : la banda que hay en mi pueblo, de toda espaƱa es la mejor... Es mi propio padre quien toca la gaita y un hermano mio quien toca tambor... (chanson). merci Marci.

Music is the universal language, and looks like the band is spreading much happiness with their music. Well done !!!

Thank you Thierry! Here is a (rough, very rough) translation from Zahari.com:

Long live music, live music: la banda is on my people, spain is all the better ... It's my own father who plays the bagpipes and a my brother who plays drum ... (song). thank you

(Thierry tripped me up for a second, mixing French with Spanish!)

Thank you Hhwind, IAN, Karla, Candycane and Deb!!
Marcif said at 11:33 a.m. on May 7, 2008:
@ Candycane: most of their music would be classified as country (which is a bit unusual for my husband, as his heart is for the Blues. Chip is definitely a blues/jazz player) When my husband met John, he said "this guy needs to be recorded." John has written several songs and he has a classic country voice. So, they got together and made an album/CD. John, Dean and Jack are the original members who made the album, and we are missing HOWARD, the drummer. thanks! :)

Thank you Chaitiamma! Music is the universal language, you're right.

You did a great job on these, Marcie. They look like a cool bunch of guys. Love your husband's black Let it Be Tshirt and the red guitar.

Well done! Nice and sharp with a nice bokeh. I know how hard it is to get great shots of a band. It helps that they were outside in good light. I'm a bass player myself.
Kbass9 said at 10:26 a.m. on May 15, 2008:
Wow, Just noticed the upside down guitar...very cool. I see Dean plays bass also...I love electric uprights! Great keyboard reflections in Chips glasses!
Marcif said at 10:51 a.m. on May 15, 2008:
Thank you Jeanine, Andre and Kbass9! @Kbass, Dean has been a guitarist for about 20 years and took up the bass more seriously about a year ago. I love his upside down guitar, and told him he needs to patent it, but then an internet search showed he wasn't the only one to think of it, and it's been done before. Anyway, it is a cool thing, definitely a conversation piece. Thanks for your comments!
