On Saturday, November 13, 2004, Friends of the Roanoke County Public Library traveled to Northern Virginia for a museum visit and some holiday shopping.

The first stop was Tysons Corner Center, the premier shopping mall on the East Coast with over 250 department and specialty stores.

The highlight of the day was a visit to the new Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center.

The Center is part of the Smithsonian Institution's National Air and Space Museum. It was built for the display and preservation of its collection of historic aviation and space artifacts. In honor of its major donor, it has been named the "Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center". Located at Washington Dulles International Airport, the Udvar-Hazy Center provides much needed space for the objects that tell the history of avaiation and space flight.
