my mom and brother made my favorite snack of all time, ginataang munggo (mung beans cooked with coconut milk and glutinous rice). it's a little tedious to do so i appreciate the effort of my younger brother, marvin, who took the painstaking task of removing the husk from the toasted mung beans. =) |

|
after coarsely grinding the toasted mung beans comes the trickiest part - removing the husk using a bilao (winnowing basket - this is usually used to remove rice chaff). even i who had done this several times in the past still find this difficult to do. i could only imagine the frustration of my little brother when the husks remain inside the bilao. =) |

good thing, mother dear came to the rescue and showed him how to properly handle and maneuver the bllao. thank God for moms! we would have waited an eternity. haha! =) |

the next step would involve putting the mung beans and the glutinous rice in boiling coconut milk. theoretically, that's how you do it. but i fell asleep in the middle of it all so i wasn't able to document that part. hahahaha!!! and when i woke up, voila! snack is served. =) |
