Place of Refuge

Pu'uhonua o Honaunau: a "place of refuge" and adjacent royal grounds on the Big Island. Say you did something really bad, like eat a meal with someone of the opposite sex. If you didn't want to be executed for the offense, you could make a dash for this place and automatically be forgiven. Kinda like confession, but with a sporting element.
