Colonia

    Dedicated to Oscar Daniel,

    an Uruguayan-Brazilian

    who never visited Colonia...

Colonia del Sacramento

is the oldest town in Uruguay, and its historic quarter is a World Heritge Site. It was the only Portuguese settlement along the Rio de la Plata.

Built in Portuguese style of houses and cobblestoned streets, the historic portion of Colonia is reminiscent of old Lisbon. Winding streets and colorful houses are laid out in a pattern different from Spanish colonial cities.

Melancholy mood and very light. So look on another's life and see in her something native. Beautiful photos.

The colours & textures of the buildings are terrific. The 'hand' door handle is brilliant.

Thanks for your comments, ROBERT, JODI, RITA, DAVID, BOBBIE, IRA, MIKE, PAT, EDITE.

Colonia is a lovely little town, and I was lucky to be there during a holiday, when (believe it or not) it was deserted, so I could enjoy it peaceful tiny streets, appreciate its ancient architecture and take photos the way I like: without tourists disturbing me.

just another simple yet elegant and so artfully executed Tabblo. I would love to photgraph this village. The texture and colors are unlike any in my part of the world

The pastel colors and subdued tones are beautiful. Great job putting together this tabblo.

I will repeat what others have said the beautiful textures along with the subtle colors, magical. This would be an excellent study to photograph these houses at different times of the day much like Monet's "Haystacks".

Superbe, des murs comme des peintures abstraites. Des façades d'un autre âge. Merci pour ce beau voyage.
