The Bungled Jungle Art Shop

This is a very special art shop on First Street in Salida, Colorado called The Bungled Jungle. All the artwork is handcrafted by the two proprietors, Pat and Suzanne. (Pat is actually a rocket scientist or something.) The pictures above are of the outside of the hundred or so year old store. The six below are of the inside of the store. The creatures are everywhere! I didn't even try to count them; there are literally hundreds priced from $60 for small hanging things to hundreds for the large, complex ones.

The guy holding the box of tissues is Ratte Butler. Note the "clam" in the pan on the stove.

The skinny green one with the tray (to the right of the green-headed singing diva) is offering [real] candy.

The guardian of the business cards

The perfect gifts for a geek!

Their cat was sleeping to the left of the green thing inside this glass front display case.

These three are of the counter which is completely filled with stuff! Their actual business is conducted on a desk behind this. Note the clock; it is actually oval, not round like something out of Lemony Snickett!

The pictures below highlight some of the friendly monsters hanging around the place.

A snuggly reptilicat?

A cute couple visiting on a park bench

The friendly concierge?

Do seahorses have teeth?

The pink is not an injury but a small friend hanging in front of him

The perfect thing to hang over one's bed!

I think I saw something like this on National Geographic channel.

This one has mirrored tonsils

I think this is supposed to be a witch but I still thought of it as a planter! Obviously this store is across the street from a theater!

The pictures below are of "robots" being built for an upcoming community art show.. These people love to scrounge stuff for building something entirely different from its original purpose!

A science trophy for a mad scientist?

An early R2D2 prototype? And I don't even want to speculate on the dangly thing . . .

This little guy was still back in the shop but he captured my imagination

This one has a "War of the Worlds" look to me

Another unfinished one from the shop; a "steampunk stormtrooper"?
