Wow! Sarcasma, those swans are pretty tame to let you get so close. These pictures are incredible and crsp in detail. The swans I photograph in the wild would never let me get that close (especially with cygnets), otherwise they would attack me and I have been attacked before by swans. It's no fun at all. Great pix.

Thanks, everyone, for your comments. Gene, the swans were tame because people clearly feed them, despite the abundant signs asking people not to. They kept their distance until a couple sitting on a bench started throwing pastry crumbs to a pair of ducks, then the swans drove the ducks out. From what I understand, one pair of swans can "own" a pond, and they're great at driving out Canada geese. These are mute swans, the natives of the area. They're some of my favorite animals.
