Tacca Chantrieri

Tacca Chantrieri has beautiful foliage. Its beautiful inflorescence complete with long purplish filaments seem to bear resemblance to tiger wiskers and hence its name Tiger Wiskers. It is a traditional Chinese Medicinal plant and is believed to be able to cure gastric ulcer, high blood pressure and burns. Caution this plant is poisonous In Malaysia  we call it the Devil's Flower and strange, fascinating stories surround it.

Have taken a few shots of this plant before but never bother to find out what it was. But thought it was pretty and unusual. Now I got all the info from you. Sir is always a sir, never forget about teaching. Very sharp close up. Simply beautiful!

How ironic this Tiger Whiskers/Devils Flower...so beautiful and healing yet poisonous if misued. I find an oxymoron yet a simile here for some experiences in Tabblo...and of course, the world at large. Very 'intricate' yet complicated flora as well. Thank you Mimi! xox Patty
