Hourglass
The grains of sand have stared to fall Each grain promised a moment: A moment that we call our own These few grains were taken lightly, We thought foolishly that they’d fall forever.
Half the sand now blown away Every grain has kept its promise: Moments left to us are so dear Yet half the sand is now consumed, Now we struggle to make each grain count. For we know that time is running out. For each grain can change forever.
Now the last few grains are about to fall, The end is near. The end is here. The minute will now soon pass. Nothing can stop the inevitable minute The minute we refuse to let go, The minute we’ve held so dear.
The last grain has fallen The minute has now passed Not one grain left for us to search But at least we’ll have our grains of sand, Laden with moments we still keep, That will never let us forget the minute that had just past. |
