Hail Storm 2008

These are photos of the aftermath of a severe hail storm we had on July 3, 2008. Heck of a way to celebrate Independence Day by cleaning up the mess!

I wasn't home so Donna took most of these pictures before the ice melted (Some was still on the ground the next morning along the roof line.)

The associate LJ post is here explaining the events of the storm.

The hail looked like snow but the date stamp in the pictures shows that isn't so!

The hail from the roof built up along the house; that is what took the canopy down.

Our front door is behind the canopy now!

Taken to the west from the front porch

This is the "trail" from our front door, passable to all beings in the family but humans who had to use the north door and go around the house.

The sun came out melting the ice as Donna took these pictures (with a couple of confused helpers)

Taken through the front door

Amazingly, my plants on the table under the canopy were barely damaged! The rope goes to a hanging basket which is now sitting on the ground here.

The mangled frame after I removed the canvas. Looks like the web of a steampunk spider!

It wasn't all converted to scrap metal but much of it was.

Mother Nature can be cruel. I hope damage wasn't severe.

We don't use that hughes.net piece of **** since a wireless high speed system arrived in our neighborhood. I'd have rather the thing had been trashed instead of our porch cover! But thanks for the thought. :)
